Tony and Josephine Sukkar present Lifeline Board Member Annie Corlett AM with the Foundation's 2017 donation cheque

17 May 2017: The Buildcorp Foundation’s Josephine Sukkar proudly presented Lifeline Board Member Annie Corlett AM with their 2017 donation cheque for $150,000 at the annual Lifeline Chairman’s Lunch. This is the third consecutive year the Foundation has selected Lifeline as the beneficiary charity, as voted by Buildcorp’s own people.

The Foundation’s fundraising over the past three years has enabled them to distribute a total of $400,000 to Lifeline to help make a significant impact on the crisis support services. The support is equivalent to enabling Lifeline to answer an additional 5,500 crisis calls and create over 15,000 safety plans for callers who are contemplating suicide.

Buildcorp Foundation Chair Josephine Sukkar said:
“I am proud that Buildcorp’s staff chose to dedicate the Foundation’s last three years to supporting mental health and suicide prevention through Lifeline. Despite the Nation’s rising suicide rates, the accumulated impact of our donations will help to increase the number of people Lifeline supports back from the brink of crisis each day.

“Lifeline helps to save hundreds of lives every week, however for every life that is taken, there is a significant and lasting impact on our communities and families. The construction industry remains particularly hit hard with young men aged 15-24 being twice as likely to make the decision to end their life. Thanks to the Foundation’s generous partners and supporter network, our contributions will have a longer lasting positive impact on the lives of those who rely on Lifeline’s vital services.”
