The Lifeline Australia and Buildcorp Foundation Giving Day raises funds and awareness for Lifeline Australia’s 24/7 digital support channels, including text and online chat, to make sure that anyone in Australia has access to help using their mobile, their computer, or whatever device they have at hand.
This was a great platform to maximise The Buildcorp Foundation’s annual contribution to mental health, which will increase awareness of our longstanding work with Lifeline Australia, and shine a spotlight on the disproportionate number of young male construction workers who die by suicide every year.
Statistics tell us that young men working on building sites in Australia are twice more likely to take their own lives compared to other members of the community, and every second day, a construction worker in Australia dies by suicide.
Buildcorp’s site teams got behind this important initiative by putting their ‘tools down’ over the day and connecting with their teammates and project partners over a site BBQ to raise funds and spread awareness.
Donations by Buildcorp site BBQs and the Australian public exceeded all expectations, and our goal of $500,000 was greatly surpassed, with an incredible $764,000 raised – Lifeline’s best Giving Day to date! All funds donated up to $250,000 were dollar matched by the Buildcorp Foundation, and with the success of the donations, this number increased to $350,000 dollar matched.
This meant the Buildcorp Foundation was proud to donate a total of $350,000 to Lifeline Australia for 2024.
These funds raised will make a tremendous difference in ensuring Lifeline Australia can keep pace with our increasingly digital world and that their support services are as accessible as possible.
